What is a dental implant?

Dental implants are like prosthetic tooth roots inserted into your jawbone by a dentist. Crafted from biocompatible titanium, they offer a sturdy foundation for replacement teeth. This post supports a replacement tooth or bridge, offering a stable, long-lasting solution mining natural teeth look, feel, and function.

How long after dental implants can I eat normally?

After receiving dental implants, you can typically resume eating soft foods within a few days. However, it's advisable to avoid hard or chewy foods for about 2-3 months to allow proper healing & integration of the implant with the jawbone. It's essential to follow your dentist's guidelines for proper healing.

How long does a dental implant procedure take?

The dental implant procedure usually takes about 1-2 hours per implant. However, the entire process, including preparation, healing, and placement of the final crown, can span several months. This allows time for the implant to integrate with the jawbone, ensuring a secure and long-lasting fit.

Are dental implants painful?

While discomfort may occur during and after the dental implant procedure, most patients report minimal pain. Local anesthesia is used during the surgery to ensure comfort, and any post-operative soreness can typically be managed with over-the-counter pain medications.

Are dental implants safe?

Yes, Dental Implants in Petaluma, CA are generally considered safe & have a high success rate. They are a well-established treatment option for replacing missing teeth, with decades of research and clinical experience supporting their efficacy.
